Competition Information:

v      All events are held on Villanova’s campus, which is 20 minutes from Philadelphia.

v      We will provide some amps and a piano (1 drum set and keyboard for sight-reading).  You must bring your own instruments and equipment otherwise.  

v      We will provide hospitality packets (places to eat, etc.) when you arrive that weekend.

v      You may bring more than one jazz group, but each group needs to be registered.

v      Registration fees—Checks payable to Villanova University

v      Combo Competition and Big Band Competition……$150 per group

v      Combo Competition………………………………...$50 per group                                                 

v      Big Band Competition………………………………$150 per group

v      A discount may be given for Universities/Colleges with more than 1 group.

v      Each group has free admission to the Saturday night concert.

v      Every group attends the master clinic.

v      Free programs with biography of each group, noting every musician, group picture and/or school logo.

Friday, April 12, 2002

v      This is a performance only competition, no sight-reading, for music and non-music majors.

v      It will be held in Belle Air Terrace or Villanova Room in Villanova’s Connelly Center.

v      An audience, including other competitors will be present.

Saturday, April 13, 2002

v      Sight-reading and a 20-minute prepared performance are judged.

v      Other competitors may watch other groups perform, but not sight-reading.

v      Performance is held in the Villanova Room.

v      The Saturday competition winners (1 for music and 1 for non-music majors) will have a free dinner before they open the concert that night. 

v      Concert begins approximately at 8:00 p.m. and concludes at 11:30 p.m.
